Gay Gibson Chalpin, Ph.D., LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Dr. Gay Chalpin grew up in Hammond, Louisiana and attended LSU at Baton Rouge and LSU MC in New Orleans, ultimately obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She then enrolled at Tulane University where she earned her Master’s degree in Social Work. Subsequently, she gained experience working at Tulane University Hospital as an adult Psychiatric Social Worker followed by both Adult Psychiatric and Medical Social Work at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. Returning to the academic realm, she enrolled in the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she received training and completed requirements for a doctorate degree in social work. Her dissertation focused on sexually abused children in state custody.
Dr. Chalpin specializes in adult individual therapy, couples and group therapy. Her clinical experience and areas of interest include issues associated with grief, mood disorders, anxiety, midlife transitions, health, and aging.
