Jessica Leger, LCSWJessica Leger began her education at the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She returned to her home town of Baton Rouge where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Louisiana State University.

Mrs. Leger worked for a nonprofit agency as a case manager and counselor before joining the Special Education Department of a local school system where she worked as a counselor focusing on behavior management, emotion regulation and social skills. In addition, Mrs. Leger volunteered as a phone counselor for the local crisis intervention line.

After moving to Lafayette, Mrs. Leger began training in Infant Mental Health through Tulane University and practiced these skills in a community early intervention program. Infant Mental Health focuses on the relationship of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with their caregivers and how it affects the working model and behavior of both parties. Jessica’s mode of treatment for these young children is primarily dyadic therapy, in which caregivers are active participants in the treatment process.

In addition to dyadic therapy, Mrs. Leger enjoys play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavior modification. Mrs. Leger is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and she is currently pursuing additional education and supervision to become a Registered Play Therapist. Mrs. Leger currently specializes in providing services for infants, toddlers, children and adolescents with an array of emotional, behavioral, educational, and/or adjustment issues.
