Lorraine H. Palmer received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Grambling State University and a Master of Science in Counseling from Southern University. While completing her graduate studies, she worked for a non-profit organization providing services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. These services involved insuring each individual was provided with an Individual Habilitation Plan of care, and developing, integrating, coordinating, and monitoring active treatment plans.
After graduation, Mrs. Palmer provided individual and group counseling services at a recovery center for clients dually diagnosed with mental health and substance abuse issues. Individual and group counseling services were also provided in a group-home setting for pregnant or parenting teenage girls. Mrs. Palmer is currently working in a university setting providing individual counseling, couples counseling, family counseling, and group counseling. She conducts seminars/workshops on wellness and crisis intervention training. She also provides therapy services for stress management, relationship/intimacy issues, depression, anxiety, and conflict mediation. The services Mrs. Palmer provides at Aucoin and Associates include couples therapy, parenting concerns, and treatment of individuals with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, and Anxiety Disorders. Treatment modalities include Exposure Plus Response Prevention, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
