Marielle Babb is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, was awarded the Outstanding Graduate of the Year Award for the College of Liberal Arts and earned her Honors Baccalaureate Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She then earned a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette while working full-time at a local nonprofit agency as the Intake Coordinator for clients seeking counseling services.
Following graduation, she worked at the St. Martin Parish School Board’s Special Services Department where she provided three years of counseling and behavior intervention support for students with mood disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, attention difficulties, social skill deficits, emotional disturbances, and anxiety related disorders. She also worked at Hearts of Hope with survivors of sexual abuse for seven years and provided program development, crisis intervention, advocacy, and therapy for those suffering from acute stress, post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, or relationship pattern difficulties.
Mrs. Babb began working with Aucoin & Associates in 2015 and has since provided therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with mood disorders, relationship pattern difficulties, depressive disorders, eating disorders, behavioral disorders, and personality disorders. She has an increased focus in treating anxiety disorders, Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other trauma related disorders, as well as Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Her therapeutic approach to address these concerns integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behavioral skills, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy modalities.
Mrs. Babb also has an increased focus in providing parenting support and has six years of experience in training parents to implement effective parenting strategies and behavior plans by utilizing various aspects of Behavioral Therapy, Love and Logic Parenting, and Parent Management Training. She provides practical solutions to common problems including homework resistance, non-compliance, child lack of initiative, as well as more difficult problems including a child that may become violent, demonstrate defiance, run away, threaten others, or damage property.
Ms. Babb is a Certified New Beginnings Program leader and supervisor with the Better Options Initiative, which is a parent education program following divorce or separation aimed at helping families adjust to the changes and hardships that occur with a separation or divorce. Ms. Babb also currently serves as the Clinical Director at Aucoin & Associates. She assists with the ongoing training and development of the clinical staff and provides and coordinates professional consultations.
