Christine Gill, LPC

 

Christine Gill attended Baylor University in Waco, TX, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology and history in 2001. Following graduation, Christine served as a missionary with the International Mission Board from 2003 to 2005. Christine dedicated her time while living in Francistown, Botswana, to educating young people about HIV/AIDS prevention. To achieve this goal, Christine developed and taught a government-approved curriculum within four middle schools in Francistown. Christine also provided counseling to students.

 

Once she returned from overseas, Christine enrolled at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2006 to pursue a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling. While working towards her degree, Christine had to opportunity to facilitate group therapy and individual counseling sessions at New Life Counseling Center in Cut Off, LA. Christine also provided substance abuse and/or anger management counseling to individuals who were court-ordered to seek outpatient treatment.

 

Upon completion of her Master's Degree in 2009, Christine worked at St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling, LA. Christine's position as a Caseworker enabled her to help adults who were admitted to the hospital's Behavioral Health Unit for stabilization from various psychiatric illnesses(e.g. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, substance abuse). In 2012,while still working at the hospital, Christine completed the requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor.

 

Christine moved to Lafayette, LA, in 2013, and began working at Phoenix Behavioral Hospital (now Oceans Behavioral Hospital). Christine provided mental health services to geriatric adults in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Christine remained in a hospital setting until December 2017.

 

Christine offers both individual counseling and couples counseling. She especially enjoys working with teenagers and young adults.Christine specializes in mood disorders and boundary work. Other areas of interest include communication skills, self-esteem building, and emotion coaching.  The therapeutic approaches Christine utilizes most are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
